When you receive your new Super Trackstick, here are some pro tips and tricks to get you up and running fast without any glitches.
 
  Install the Trackstick Manager Software FIRST to your Microsoft Windows based computer (no Mac version is available at this time ) by downloading it from:

MAKE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THAT YOU DO NOT CONNECT your Super Trackstick until you have COMPLETELY FINISHED THE ENTIRE INSTALLATION.
The Super Trackstick has special circuitry to prolong the life of the 2 AAA batteries that power it, but PLEASE BE CERTAIN to start out with a BRAND NEW PAIR of HIGH QUALITY Alkaline Batteries.
When you first insert the batteries, the Super Trackstick LED will glow red for approximately 3 seconds.
The Super Trackstick On / Off Switch will usually be shipped in the On (UP) position which is marked with an "I". If it is not in the On (UP) position, firmly slide it On. The switch is very "stiff" and hard to move when the unit is new, but be very careful so as not to damage the switch when moving it On and Off. The switch has to be firm to insure it is not accidentally bumped into the off position when in use and collecting the data you need to track vehicles.
When first switched On, the Super Trackstick LED glow red for approximately 3 seconds, and then blink red approximately every 2 seconds as it attempts to locate GPS signals.
The Super Trackstick requires a clear view of the open sky and while auto glass is OK, the unit must not not covered by metal. One of the least obstructed in-vehicle locations for a Super Trackstick is on the dashboard where it meets the bottom of the windshield,
There are 24 GPS Satellites in geosynchronous orbit around the Earth. When first switched on under an open sky, the Super Trackstick attempts to poll each of the 24 satellites, and it ultimately locates and memorizes the 3 satellites closest to it's location. While generally faster, this initialization process can take up to 15 minutes. Be patient; it is best to be at rest (not moving) during the initialization process. Cloud cover and fog can also lengthen the amount of time needed for the Trackstick to locate the satellites.
Once the Trackstick has located it's closest satellites, the LED will flash green approximately every 8 seconds indicating the unit is now actively storing GPS location data.
After initialization, the Super Trackstick has memorized the location of the 3 closest satellites and the LED will flash green and begin storing data more quickly when switched On and Off at later times.
The Super Trackstick can be connected to an available Windows based computer's USB port after the Trackstick Manager software installation is complete. The Trackstick must be powered On to be able to communicate with the Trackstick Manager Software.
After opening your Trackstick Manager Software, Selecting "Tools / Device Properties" will allow you to give a unique name to your Trackstick (which is especially helpful if you have more than one Trackstick). On this screen, you can also Erase All data in the Trackstick, view the unit's Battery Status, set the Power Mode (Full Power or Power Save) and view the version of firmware programmed into your unit by the factory.
Once data is present in your Trackstick, Opening the Trackstick Manager Software and Selecting "File / Download Trackstick Data" is the selection you will make to retrieve and view the data. Downloading can take several minutes if the Trackstick has a large amount of stored data. The software will ask you to save the data in a file where you may chose whatever discrete name you wish following Windows naming conventions. The software will them present a table containing all of the information that was captured. You may then also use the "File / Export to . . . " commands to create a variety of different movies and file formats.
